Adlington Management Services appoint managing director of new Heaton Mersey development

Donna Cowell, Managing Director of The Woodlands, Adlington Retirement Living’s new retirement community in Heaton Mersey

Jhe management arm of Adlington Retirement Living has appointed a managing director for its latest retirement community in Heaton Mersey.

Donna Cowell now leads a team of nine (six service managers, two cleaners and a maintenance technician) at The Woodlands in Heaton Mersey.

With over 20 years of experience in hospitality, social services and retirement residences, Donna is delighted to put her skills to good use with Adlington Management Services.

Donna said: “I love the ethos of Adlington Retirement Living. I think it’s a fantastic idea to be able to help people stay independent. Knowing that we are here to support our owners is hopefully reassuring for them and their families. When you’re in an environment like this, you have someone on site 24 hours a day, giving you extra peace of mind.

“It’s so satisfying when something that only takes you five minutes can mean so much to someone you’re helping. I think just having a friendly team around you to say “we can look into this for you” or “let me point you in the right direction” can make a huge difference. Many of our owners find that not having to worry about maintenance is a huge relief. We have an absolutely magnificent building here. The apartments are so luxurious and we have so many facilities on site including restaurant, cafe bar and hair salon.

Adlington Retirement Living, which designs, builds and operates its own programs, integrated the management of its retirement communities with the launch of Adlington Management Services in 2019.

New owners are due to start moving into The Woodlands this month.

Donna added, “I can’t wait to get to know our owners and find out what kind of activities and events they would like us to organize for them. We are already looking to find a hairdresser, a beautician and a reflexologist. Depending on what our owners would like, we will begin to consider setting up regular groups and activities, such as art groups, book clubs or exercise classes. We will be having afternoon teas soon and may be considering an Italian evening or other themed evenings.

“Owners can dive into activities or events as much as they want. They can partake in everything or they can just get off when they feel like it. In this environment, there are plenty of opportunities to stay active.
