LONDON, January 5, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Bloomberg Data Management Services (DMS) today announced that it has been selected by M&G Investments, one of the UK’s largest and most tenured investment firms, to host the acquisition and the management of its ESG data, allowing a transparent integration of the data in the investment process.
DMS was engaged to integrate and consolidate all M&G Investments ESG data providers into its private cloud-based solution. Bloomberg DMS enables more control, a holistic view of data, and addresses the challenges of aggregating from different sources by applying validations, mapping feeds to a common corporate hierarchy, producing a consolidated view across vendors, and providing transparency around data governance and lineage.
“The proliferation of ESG investing has been offset by ESG data providers, who provide a wide variety of different data, scores and metrics. Investors need to get data from multiple providers to get the full picture, but the lack of consistency across vendors can lead to data quality issues and operational disruptions,” said Keith Bunnell, Global Head of Bloomberg Data Management Services. “Using the strength and adaptability of the DMS solution, M&G Investments will be able to streamline the acquisition, management and distribution of data from multiple sources, removing all challenges that impede a smooth user experience. ”
Bloomberg DMS enables cross-linking of ESG data with other datasets, including basic security, pricing, and analytics data to meet different client data needs and present a complete view of the universe of data. Customers will have the ability to choose between SFTP and API delivery channels, and the dataset will be available to downstream systems to ensure a continuously updated, unified and holistic ESG view across the entire industry. ‘business.
“As adopting an ESG lens in investing has gone from a trend to a necessity. One of the biggest challenges for us has been managing and processing an influx of data from ESG providers who have little standardization or transparency,” said Julien Dorado, Head of Investor Data Platform at M&G Investments. “Bloomberg DMS solved this problem for us, providing the integration, transparency and efficiency needed to make critical ESG investment decisions.”
