Buda City Council approves bond management company – Corridor News

BUDA – At its meeting on Tuesday, April 19, Buda City Council approved WSB, a design and consultancy firm specializing in engineering, community planning, environmental and construction services, to handle the management from the November 2021 bond program for bond transport and fleet projects. WSB’s selection came with a recommendation from the Buda Bond Oversight Committee (BBOC) after reviewing the company with staff of the city at the BBOC meeting on Monday evening.

In the November 2021 elections, voters in the city of Buda approved an $89.66 million bond package designed to improve transportation, parks and recreation, and includes more than 13 transportation projects and six parks and recreation projects. The BBOC, which is made up of 17 Buda residents and five alternates that the Buda City Council appointed at a regular meeting on Jan. 18, is tasked with scoping bond projects and monitoring progress. .

Jay Kennedy, vice president of operations for WSB in Texas, who attended the board meeting, answered questions from the board regarding bonding projects, cost oversight, service sourcing, hiring contractors and communication with citizens about projects.

Council’s vote to approve WSB for the bond program management services as presented and recommended was unanimous, with Councilor Matt Smith moving the motion and Pro-Tem Mayor Evan Ture seconding it.

Bond program management services should help administer bond funds, work to keep design teams on schedule and on schedule, perform quality assurance for design and construction methods, and assist with overall program management bond.

In addition to the BMS team, the BBOC will meet regularly to help track bond spending, review procurement methods and assess project design. BBOC meetings will be open to the public, and agendas, minutes and other bond updates will be posted on the Buda Bonds website at www.budabonds.com.
