CBC Capital & Equity Management Ltd., the first Chinese-owned capital management company in Bangladesh, has been launched in Dhaka to provide a new platform for Chinese companies to enter the Bangladesh capital market.

DHAKA, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) — A Chinese capital management company, CBC Capital & Equity Management Ltd., was launched in Dhaka on Tuesday, providing a new platform for Chinese companies to enter the Bangladeshi capital market.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming said the launch of this new company creates a capital management platform dedicated to providing merchant banking services to Chinese and foreign investors in Bangladesh.

“It will play a vital role in boosting foreign investment confidence in Bangladesh and contributing to the development of the country’s capital market,” he said.

Noting that Bangladesh’s rapidly developing economy is an attractive investment destination for Chinese investors, the ambassador said he hopes the two countries will establish a win-win partnership through cooperation in capital management. and shares.

Bangladesh’s Ambassador to China, Mahbub Uz Zaman, praised the establishment of the company and said that Bangladesh recorded an impressive GDP growth of 6.94% in the financial year 2020-21 despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

China’s proposed Belt and Road Initiative has been one of the elements to meet Bangladesh’s investment needs, including filling infrastructure gaps, he said.

The new capital management company will focus on corporate finance, M&A advisory, equity sales and trading, asset management and investment research.
