The International Management Services Ltd (IMS) team wishes our Chairman, Paul Harris, a safe journey back on his 80th birthday on November 30, 2021.
Paul is a well-known figure in the Cayman Islands. He graduated as a chartered accountant from Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst and Young) in London before coming to the Cayman Islands in his twenties in 1967, where he became the first UK chartered accountant to settle and practice. in the islands. He opened the first accounting office in the Cayman Islands for what is today Ernst & Young and later served as the Cayman correspondent for the international firm Ernst & Ernst. He founded International Management Services Ltd (IMS) in 1974 and in 2015 he was honored by the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants CIIPA (formerly CISPA) as an industry pioneer. He was one of the first founders in 1970 and the association has now grown into the largest professional association in the Cayman Islands with approximately 1,000 members. He was also instrumental in the creation of the Cayman Islands Company Managers Association and the Cayman Islands Directors Association and should therefore be recognized for his contribution to the creation of the financial services industry in the Cayman Islands.
Many people will remember Paul’s early days on the Islands, his love of boats and his time as a Bayliner dealer and more recently the donation of a boat to the Sailing Club; and who could forget hanging out at Beach Club and Tiffany’s nightclubs in addition to being an ocean runner participating in the Million Dollar Run.
We are happy that he stayed true to his day job and made IMS the success it is today!
Happy birthday Paul!
