After nearly 20 years at JL Bainbridge & Company Inc., John Leeming gets a big promotion: president.
The Sarasota-based company announced that the former senior vice president and chief compliance officer will continue in his responsibilities and retain the chief compliance officer title with the new role. The family wealth management company, which has just celebrated its 40th anniversary, was co-founded by Jerry Bainbridge, who served as its president, and his wife, Fay Bainbridge.
“This vote of confidence from Jerry and Fay means the world to me,” Leeming said in a statement. “Our customers will recognize a lot of Jerry and Fay’s values and thinking in how I build the business as we move forward.”
In 2003, Leeming began his career with the firm as a financial advisor. Once senior vice president, Leeming was responsible for managing the portfolios of a group of clients.
“Fay and I are delighted to have promoted John to the position of President of our firm,” said Jerry Bainbridge, who will continue to serve as CEO. “He has been instrumental in moving our compliance to a much higher level and in establishing procedures and practices that put the team on the same playing field with improved productivity. His biggest attribute, however, is his dedication to developing all team members to their full potential.
At the end of 2021, the company was managing over $950 million in client investments and is now on track to manage $1 billion or more.
“These are exciting but difficult times,” says Leeming. “Our clients tend to stay with us for a long time, which fits well with our philosophy of investing for the long term to avoid being caught up in occasional market volatility. I look forward to helping the company reach its billion dollar goal – which would mean our customers are satisfied – and to build from there. »
