The dispute between the project management company and Castlethorn Construction is resolved

A legal dispute between a project management company and developer Joe O’Reilly’s Castlethorn Construction Group over the future of an £18.5million building plot has been resolved.

The action, which was admitted to the commercial court’s fast-track list last year, centered on a claim by businessman Patrick White and his companies that they had a contract to buy from Castlethorn Group the 600-acre Killeen Castle, Dunsany, Co Meath, to develop a 177-bed hotel, leisure centre, golf course and 130 accommodation at Killeen Castle.

Mr White and his companies – Killeen Project Management Co and KC Killeen Holdings – had been soliciting orders, including for Mr O’Reilly and fellow Castlethorn director John Fitzsimons to complete the sale of the land alongside him.

The case was also against Castlethorn Construction Unlimited Co, Sasula Unlimited Co and Socnule Unlimited Co. The defendants had denied the claims.

In the Commercial Court on Tuesday, Judge Denis McDonald was told by Keith Farry for the plaintiff that, following out-of-court discussions, the case had been resolved.

No details of the settlement agreement were given in open court. Judge McDonald welcomed the settlement and commended the parties involved for resolving the dispute.
