Technology-based water management startup Kritsnam Technologies said on Monday it had secured pre-Series A funding of Rs 6 crore (about $800,000) led by an alumnus of the IIT Kanpur from the batch of 1987.

The round also saw the participation of Ashish Gupta (founder of Helion Ventures), Kunal Shah (founder of Cred), Basab Pradhan (former executive of Infosys) and Sanjiv Verma (former managing director of Baxter India), among others.

The startup plans to deploy the new capital to commercialize software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions that help businesses digitally manage their water usage, reduce groundwater footprints, and comply with government regulations.

Founded in 2015 by K Sri Harsha, Prudhvi Sagar, Vinay Chataraju and Neeraj Rai, Kritsnam provides solutions based on Internet of Things or Artificial Intelligence for water managers to manage their water resources in a sustainable way.

Their flagship product, Dhaara Smart, helps water managers save water and money.

In a statement, the platform claimed to have received research and development grants worth Rs 2.8 crore from Department of Science and Technology (DST), Hindustan Unilever Foundation, Ericsson Global Services, Intel India, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), USAID, FICCI among others.
